As the potential for wintery weather approaches, we wanted to remind you about waste and recycling collection arrangements in and around Dunblane in the event of a sustained period of snow and ice. As you know, bin lorries and recycling vehicles can have difficulty negotiating slippery roads and streets under those conditions which can affect bin, box and caddy collections.

Following the very bad winter weather in recent winters, with your help we've mapped some temporary 'road end' (or 'street end') collection points that can be used under these conditions (see attached list and maps). As you may recall, these points were chosen based on feedback from residents over the past couple years via Stirling Council's Contact Centre, gritting requests and discussions with others.

If there's a bad winter storm, the Waste Services Disruptions page on Stirling Council's website will display the latest information about any late collections and other service disruptions affecting your weekly box/caddy and fortnightly bin collections. If it stays cold following the storm and the ice and snow don't melt right away, that page also will be used to announce if, when and where Winter Road End Collection Points will be used.  Waste Services Officers and Crews will put out orange traffic cones with signage at each Winter Road End Collection Point, and household bins and boxes will be emptied from there until the weather  improves enough to allow the collection vehicles safe access to the streets again. 

We will use the attached map(s) as a baseline for establishing winter collection points in and around Dunblane if and when needed.

The Community Council and members of the public are welcome to provide further suggestions and feedback on the points marked. Although the maps are several steps ahead of where we were a few years ago, we realise this is a work in progress. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
