New book remembers Dunblane's war dead

A book has been compiled in memory of those from Dunblane who have died in war.
'Dunblane War Memorial- Remembering Dunblane's Fallen' was launched at the Dunblane Museum on Sunday.
The-book, written by former prison service worker Edward Campbell, sets out to give added information on those listed on Dunblane's war memorial, and others from Dunblane not listed, who were killed in both World Wars. It also details the history of the memorial, and the effects of war on the community of Dunblane.
The memorial only lists by rank and name those who fell, and it was the objective of the book to find out the stories behind the names and to recognize the sacrifice of those who died in both conflicts.
In most cases it was possible to add personal details of the individuals listed so that a fuller picture of the person concerned could be established. Outstanding acts of heroism and sacrifice by people from Dunblane have also been highlighted.
Proceeds from the book will go to The Western Front Association, and it is available by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
