New Co-operative Store for Dunblane!

Dunblane’s worst kept secret is true!

There is to be a new Co-operative food store in the old Coop building in Dunblane’s High Street. And it could open by the end of the year!

It was in November 2013 that Dunblane Senior Citizens sold their fundraising shop at 79 to 81 High Street. Since then the new owners, North Berwick Properties Ltd, have been organising all the required permissions including planning, building warrant and a license to sell alcohol. The last of these was finally secured at the beginning of June, thanks in part to a letter of support from the Community Council.

North Berwick Properties have now recommenced the refurbishment work and in October hope to be able to hand the building over to the Cooperative, who will be leasing it. Once fitted out the shop can then be opened - hopefully in time for Christmas.

The Coop's Scottish acquisitions manager Ian Mason said: “The premises will offer shoppers a wide selection of fresh and chilled products, the Co-operative’s premium Truly Irresistible range, delicious ready meals, an in-store bakery and an extensive wine range, including chilled champagne”.

“We know Dunblane’s residents are passionate about their food and our new Co-operative food store will certainly reflect this. The store will be packed with modern and interesting meal ideas that, while quick and easy to put together, are sure to impress.”
