#OnThisDay 1948 World Council of Churches was formed. In July 1960 the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches visited Dunblane’s newly created Scottish Churches House Ecumenical Conference Centre to unveil the Oikoumene sign (logo of the World Council of Churches)

#OnThisDay 1754 Scottish engineer & inventor of coal-gas lighting William Murdoch was born. This photograph of Dunblane's Millrow in 1876 shows old gas works – gas lighting introduced to Dunblane 1841. In 1906 gasometer was erected, demolished 1951, new gasometer cleared in 1970s
