News - April 2024

Transport - Non compliant cycle lanes have been removed from between Claredon roundabout and Four Ways roundabout.  Work is progressing to repair the stone cladding on the railway footbridge. Edinburgh trains are now running from Platform 3, but sometimes have to revert to Platform 1 during ongoing work.  The flooding repairs to the dual carriageway at Kippenross seem to finally be fully successful.

Economy - Discussions are ongoing to secure community benefit from the  Windburn2 wind farm.  It has now been shown that second floor flats around Dunblane High School will see the tips of 3 turbines and Cromlix upper floor will see 8.  SSE's new Cambushinnie substation is also under consultation with DCC compiling a list of paths which could benefit from windfall funding.

Community - Creative Dunblane in the Burgh Chambers is pressing ahead with a market test of its Co-worker concept.  One of the upstairs rooms is being refurbished prior to launch.  Debate continues with Stirling Council on its Common Good Fund which continues to exclude the Burgh Chambers and Victoria Hall.

Environment - SEPA is updating its list of "Potentially Vulnerable Areas" (to flooding). The community is being asked by DCC to identify such areas (with supporting photos and videos where possible) so that these can be added to DCC's response to SEPA's consultation.

Housing - A list of proposed planning gain (eg paths and cycle lanes) is being evaluated following Dandara's submission of a plan for Dunblane.  Dialogue between Stirling Council and developers is not particularly transparent so a Freedom of Information request may be raised by DCC.
