Glassingall Estates Ltd and Active Stirling have submitted to Stirling Council a Proposal of Application Notice for the development of 135 bespoke holiday lodges and a purpose-built residential activity centre on the Glassingall Estate near Dunblane.
Public Exhibitions were due to be held where members of the development team were to be in attendance to provide information and answer questions that the local community may have. They have been cancelled until further notice.

Dunblane Sports Club celebrated the opening of their new squash courts on Sunday 18th August by hosting the latest event in the Scottish Squash Roadshow. Scotland’s number 2 and world ranked number 79 Alison Thomson teamed up with National Coach Paul Bell to deliver coaching sessions for juniors and adults, followed by an exhibition match and a chance for club members to ‘play against the pros’.
The courts have been given a complete £30k rebuild, including new state of the art ASB walls, new Junckers sprung flooring and new lighting. The investment comes alongside increased popularity in squash, with busy club nights, team practice sessions, ladies and men’s teams in local leagues, and a popular internal box league and ladder. The new courts have been sponsored by Erskine Eyecare, who have branches in Auchterarder, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane.
Scottish star Alison said she had a “great day getting on the new courts with the juniors and adults”. Paul praised the club for investing in their facilities and promoting squash to the local community: “It was so much fun in Dunblane on our latest Scottish Squash Roadshow. It was a nice challenge delivering a session for 12 adults on 2 courts of various abilities, but that’s why we do it. When there’s a will there’s a way.”

Work in Progress!
There has been some good progress of planting, fencing and digger work to help stabilise and repair the path and improve drainage along it. As we volunteers know it will all green up very quickly. In addition a survey above the path has highlighted the need to repair some old drainage to help reduce erosion and extend the life of the path – but this needs some extra funds, which we are trying to secure to maximise the efficiency of the ongoing works.
Funds!
We are pleased to say that the 4 grant applications in the original budget were successful - 8000 from Sustrans, 9000 from CSET, 1500 from Community Pride and 1500 from Scotways. We have also reached 3000 for the Kindlink appeal which is fantastic, but still have another 2000 to go.
For the additional drainage works we have applied to Paths for All and are approaching some other sources.

Hello I'm Rosie and have dreamed about opening a shop for years. Having listened to the community I decided a zero waste, plastic free social enterprise was the way to go.
So what is this 'Zero Waste' idea all about ??
As a new business start up for Dunblane, 'Weigh Ahead', will bring a new concept to shopping on the High Street. A zero waste, plastic free shop enabling sustainable living. We will stock eco-friendly, sustainable products that will be sold without plastic packaging. By setting up as a social enterprise it will also bring the opportunity for profits to be re-invested back into the community. These profits will go back in various ways, by promoting environmental issues, recycling, Ecobricks projects, and by providing outreach programmes and sustainable living workshops for the community, with a particular emphasis on reaching people who would find practising a zero waste lifestyle most of a challenge.
As many products as possible will be sourced from other social enterprises to support the circular economy, and from local / Scottish artisans with the odd more exotic product that will, of course, have been ethically checked out before being placed on the shelves.

Former Community Council Chair, Terence O'Byrne, has been tackling the giant hogweed problem in Dunblane in a voluntary capacity for the last 7 years but now funding for chemicals & sprayng equipment is under threat.
The latest Scottish road trip, Heart 200, will take visitors through the most scenic parts of Central Scotland from Blair Atholl to Kinross, from Aberfoyle to Blairgowrie.
AND the route comes through Dunblane - a significant opportunity for the town!

A public vote has led to some communities gaining £100k in Stirling Council funding
£100k will provide accessible toilets + outdoor gym in Dunblane
- Accessible toilets that will meet the needs of complex care needs within an existing location with adequate space. (Pamis changing place toilets)
- Outdoor gym which will preferably be in a central location e.g. Laighhills, Drying Green or Braemar Park.

The winning projects in Your Stirling:You Decide range from the creation of cycle networks and park upgrades, to the installation of an outdoor gym and road improvements.
Council chiefs offered £700,000 of investment spread evenly across each of its seven electoral wards as the participatory budgeting was rolled out across the area for the first time.
More than 760 ideas were submitted from across the area after Your Stirling: You Decide was launched in March this year.
These were whittled down to 193 projects that went through to the voting stage and anyone of high school age who lives in the area could take part. By June 23, the number of verified votes tallied at 4,161, with a weighting system deployed by the council aimed at ensuring smaller communities were given parity with areas with a larger population. Residents had five votes each for the proposals in their ward – which all had to be used to make their ballot valid.
In Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward, £100,000 will provide accessible toilets and an outdoor gym, both in Dunblane, with the projects attracting 248 and 246 votes respectively.

Midsummer saw double billing on Holme Hill with a family crowd enjoying super weather, brilliant atmosphere and a truly unique outdoor venue.
First to go in late afternoon was "A Midsummer Night's Dream" performed by Rubber Chicken Theatre. This was really well received with the young actors performing in the woods. Later in the evening, Ceilidh Minogue struck up and couples and families alike were swirling round the dance floor. The stone chip dance floor was laid over the tennis court that belonged to the old house, but there are ambitious plans to build a more permanent venue for the future. A quick thinking organiser realised that the surface wouldn't be ideal for the ceilidh band so ripped a carpet out of a "No Plastics" shop being refurbished in the High Street and upcycled it as a stage. All in all, a lovely evening was had and the event showcased a venue for Dunblane that will surely host some amazing nights in the future. Thanks go to the Carman Family Foundation and community volunteers who helped make it such a success.
